Not The Messiah

Have just returned from an evening of high art and Pythons at the Concert Hall where we were entertained by Mr Eric Idle, four opera soloists, an orchestra, choir, four pipers and a sheep.
Difficult to catch every gag when sung with operatic voices and/or choir, but enough chuckles got through to be entertaining. The music and performances were of generally sufficient calibre to stand on their own when the lyrics were incomprehensible. I was also happy just to watch an actual Python in the flesh, and his bits were crystal clear. That's his diction. His singing voice. The whole tripped along quite quickly, mangling a plethora of musical styles in the course of the evening.
You've not lived until you've seen and heard a tenor and a soprano have sex oratorio style. I don't remember *that* from the kama sutra, but it would certainly impress the neighbours. In New Zealand.
There were surprisingly numerous lumberjack references, and the sheep's performance got a standing ovation. The whole thing wrapped with an encore singalong for Always look on the bright side of life, ably directed by Mr Idle who warned everyone of impending key changes.
The pipers curtseyed fetchingly.
A successful evening.
