Tomorrow (Saturday 4th August 2012) I'll be installing some Pretty Rock art in a temporary art space called the Pop-up Gallery in Subiaco. Here are the details:

What: Pop-up Gallery: A free exhibition space for all visual artists to display their work for the month of August. It's in the old Xile shop, right next to Saba at the Colonnade in Subiaco.

Where: Shop 20, The Colonnade Subiaco, 388 Hay St (Perth, Western Australia). Opposite Nandos, if that helps.

When: 12-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays in August.

Who: Organised by the lovely Nikki Mauri of Feisty Entertainment.

Here be the Facebook Event Page, if you swing thusly: https://www.facebook.com/events/338119799602323/?ref=ts

It's a guerilla paste-up exhibition with no pesky application fees or sales. One of the few restrictions in place is that no prices can be displayed, but artists are encouraged to advertise their contact details, which I am certainly planning to do. Paste-up means there will be partitions for pinning things to, and walls for blu-tacking, but no actual hooks for framed or heavy stuff. All welcome, so if you feel the spontaneous urge to display your Art, come in tomorrow (Sat) from 12pm. First in best dressed for wall space. I doubt the competition will be too fierce, so I'm not expecting blood on the walls unless that's your preferred media.

I'm becoming very excited about this - it's a great opportunity to trial pretty rock pictures on real people for the first time. I've pasted up 60 or so postcards as three rough collages so I can show off a bit of variety, and I've a few larger prints (40cm x 50cm ish I think) to go up too. May as well get my money's worth from them. The postcards are not great print quality, but hopefully they will give people some idea of what I do and drive a bit of traffic to redbubble and deviantart. There's only n shopping days to Christmas!^

Apart from my art there will be other people's art, a lounge area in which to lounge, and daily performances by performance types. On Sunday 5th 1-3pm there will be Beehive Gogo dancers in the front window.

So, I'll be there at 12pm tomorrow for bump in, and 4pm Sunday 26th August for tear down, and as many sessions in between as I can manage. I'm looking forward to chatting with the other artists as well. Much as I'd like to arrange a specific I'll-be-there-come-see-me session I just can't make any sort of promises in advance. As a general rule I'm much more likely to be there on a Sunday afternoon than a Saturday.

(^) Whoops, there goes a bit of my soul.
