Just took an interesting call from a member of the ACS Education Across The Nation (*) committee asking if I would like to be nominated as one of the 4 presenters for next year's program. Choice of either live or podcast presentation to the 8 capital city branches within a 3-month period.
Also just received the feedback form results from last month (the phone call arrived less than an hour after I got these). Some of the comments are a bit cryptic, but the co-ordinator said I should be "very pleased" with the result. I reckon the 2 "Excellents" more than compensate for the 2 "Poors" ;-)
Speaker:
Poor - 2; Good - 14; Very Good - 6; Excellent - 2
Content:
Poor - Nil; Good - 10; Very Good - 10; Excellent - 4
Comments:
Personally very topical. My organisation is in process of Data Warehouse construction that will join "Product" data an "Financials."
Great talk.
Would like to hear case studies on upgrading legacy systems and Satellite networking.
Would like a more detailed workshop going through part of Stephanies'
presentation.
Would like to see semantic web actual use demos.
Tribes - who is responsible - networking.
(*) "Held quarterly, the Education Across the Nation (EdXN) series aims to inform and enhance members understanding on emerging technologies, trends and research in the ICT industry. Gain a valuable insight into the impact and role of emerging technologies and more importantly learn how to harness it to deliver superior business performance gains.
With contributions from reputable speakers, this “Australia wide” event takes in each state throughout the quarter."
I'm not sure about the "reputable speaker" bit ;-)
EDIT: I've added some crumbs of further information. No doubt many more excitable posts on the topic to follow.
