The local Video Ezy is closing down and has started to sell its stock. Today we picked up a bunch of ex-rental weeklies at 4 for $15 3 for $12.
Moon
Ice Age 3
District 9
Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus (I haven't seen it, but how could I resist?)
Gattaca
Casino Royal (2006) (for completeness' sake as I already own Quantum of Solace and you really need to watch both of them at once)
Star Trek (Oops, I already own the 2 disc collector's edition, but it was worth the risk, and I can give this one to Dad. We used to watch TOS together when I was a kid. And have you ever noticed that I do a wicked raised eyebrow? So does Dad. There's a reason for that.)
Pitch Black (Saw this in the cinema and it was teh awesome)
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (I was hoping to pick up all three on the cheap but only found the one)
How to Train Your Dragon
Husband picked up a Disney fest:
Fantasia 2000
The Tortoise and the Hare
Three Little Pigs
Melody Time
The Three Caballeros
Whether any of these are actually playable is debatable. A lot of the rentals we've had from there have been in pretty poor shape, but at that price it's worth the risk.
As for our future video rental requirements we were at the almost-but-not-quite-local shopping centre today for special drugs, and discovered that its video library had also closed down a few years ago. That now makes a running total of 4 of the local shops that have closed in recent years. On to the next candidate just a little further away. It's not the first time I've recently found the internet less than helpful in finding businesses that are *currently* open.
