This vanadinite crystal specimen marks a symbolic end to my collecting days. I bought this because I didn't have it, and it was within my budget. I didn't love it; it never talked to me. As a consequence it has languished unloved but correctly classified near the other lead-based minerals crocoite and wulfenite. Today with the help of a zoom lens I have finally learned to love and appreciate it.
The vanadinite is the small brown crystals.

The small crystal size and overall quantity of mineral in the sample initially put me off.

Each crystal is about 1-2mm across, so this is really stretching the capabilities of my little camera.
