I'm really looking forward to my annual escape and adventure at Swancon, this year at The Hyatt for extra swishness. For purposes of identification I currently have long straight dark hair with purple ends, possibly worn in plaits. I'll be wearing a nametag, which might help too.

I'm not officially on any panels this year, but I do hope to defend my Iron Brain crown on Friday night (?). I'll be at the Masquerade, obviously, in silver. A lot of silver; there's a lot of me.

I've had possibly a bit too much fun assembling a bag of craft items for the children's program. It's possible I may be either loved or cursed for my efforts, but I populated it with objects you'd find on any self-respecting model spaceship or monster. There's just... a lot of them. You probably won't find me near the children.

I will be pleased to see you--hell I'm pleased to see anyone or anything right now--but I might not recognise your face, or indeed connect your real name to your Internet presence and our deep and meaningful online relationship. I may not meet your eye across a crowded room. I may overcompensate and introduce myself to people I've seen around the traps for years. Don't be shy: remind me how we know each other. I might scowl in noisy environments as I attempt to concentrate; it means I care and am doing my best to understand you.

It will be nice to get away from the cats for a while, and yet I will no doubt miss them (although I've just had to clean up some vomit so I might not miss them much after all). If you're wearing something fluffy I may deliver a request to invade your personal space for stroking purposes. Feel free to reject any such requests; I ask because I respect the answer. I may also wave a hand puppet at you. Best to just go with it, make no sudden noises, then back away slowly. You'll be quite safe; I can't run.

I almost certainly will spend most of my time in pain and fatigue, which tends to dim my personal glow a bit. For this reason I'll be in my room a lot (at the Hyatt itself woohoo) or collapsed in the comfiest and quietest spots I can find. I may need to disappear or sit down abruptly, but it's best I obey my instincts in this matter. It's not you, it's my f$#@ing CFS and Fibro.

I almost certainly won't be able to eat with you, but if you can handle the weirdness we may wish to hook up for a chat while you eat. That said, I may need all mealtimes for their rest value, because I'm generally very keen on the programme items and am easily tired out by sitting upright for an hour or two.

Feel free, however, to sit next to me in the audience at panels and/or generally say hello. I'm hoping the nametags are nice and readable this year.

Can I afford to stay at the Hyatt for four nights? Hell no, but at least my con membership was free as a prize from last year's Masquerade win.

Let the geekiness begin!
