Cat health update x 2

Still not really up for outings today and had decided to defer Princess' 2 week followup vet visit for up to a week, but she suddenly went berk with scratching and headshaking, so we piled ourselves into various boxes and went to the vet.
Did You Know that cats have a mechanism whereby the wax that's produced deep in the ear canal migrates outward? No, I hadn't given it much thought either, but apparently there is one and Princess' is broken, so for the rest of her days I shall have to regularly irrigate her ears with saline. I'm sure she'll understand. Not.
Perhaps as a consequence of a long period of immobility I did something to my back when I bent over to pick up Princess' cage from the floor at the vet's. One of those rubber band goes thwang A Bad Thing Has Occurred moments, shortly followed by the somewhat embarrassing Excuse Me But I Can't Straighten Up classics. Once I was able to relax into it (thank you years of massage therapy!) I could stand up, pay the bills and get all of us back to the car, but the drive home was No Fun At All. Princess was unusually quiet, or perhaps I couldn't hear her over my whimpering. Fortunately it's only a very short drive home.
I've iced and Swiss balled and now it's localised to the left hip. Which has tightened up my left leg and is pulling my knee apart, but I know how to deal with that. Must get a better ice pack.
Cally's second dose of Metacam has kicked in and she's already looking brighter and choosing to move around a bit more. Such a shame I can only give her this relief in short bursts, but the nausea side effect is quite nasty once it kicks in. On the bright side it does confirm that it's her arthritis causing the most problems.
I need to go and bend in a different direction now.
