This is what I'm fighting

I've just drafted a couple of hundred words of The Book. They're quite important words in terms of establishing the context, but having written them I'm not sure I can live with myself. Fortunately there's not much more of this to come. Hopefully none at all, apart from tortuous rewrites and edits. I need a drink.
The Final Chapter is the First
The sun shone brightly upon the castle courtyard as the group of fast friends emerged from the Hall into the light. Evil vanquished, it was time to celebrate the glories of love, life, and laughter. The new King of The Splendid Land kissed the hand of his new and much beloved Queen, thus closing the circle of prophesy begun so long ago.
The king felt a nudge at his side and turned to find The Last Unicorn at his side, horn bent to touch the jewelled hilt of The One True Sword. Unicorn and Sword could both rest now, their duties done.
But no more talk of serious matters! This was a day for feasting and merriment! A day of not one but three marriages of love and state; duty bound to affection thrice over.
Alone at the edge of the crowd their trusty friend SmallHammer the Dwarf shifted his feet and wished for no more than a tankard of ale. Dust, that's what it was. Dust in his throat and in his eyes, making them leak. He was not happy. He was most assuredly not happy. Nor crying. Definitely not crying. Never. He sniffed and surreptitiously wiped his sleeve across his face. Where was that ale?
The newly wed Knight of The Southern Marshes caught side of his diminutive friend just as Puggle the donkey found the dwarf's shadow. The little beast of burden had once again escaped her bonds to seek out his company, and nuzzled at his hand for caresses. "Wilt thou be wed this day too, SmallHammer?" the Knight called merrily. "Thine lady hath certainly indicated a preference!"
Caught in the act of scratching the creature's shaggy crest, SmallHammer snatched his hand back and scowled at the crowd who laughed at his discomforture. His face softened, however, when Puggle nibbled delicately at his ear.
"A toast!" boomed the mountain-shaking voice of Thunder StrongArm the Giant. "To the fellowship, to the King and Queen, and to Kingdom of The Splendid Land! May all rule eternal!" And with the ringing of cheers throughout the land, all present did just that.
THE END.
