...and violence

With all the sex happening in The Book today I forgot about a bit of interesting violence IRL.
Husband came home from his gig late afternoon and we were catching up with our pirate obligations. "I bet ye've got a great left hook!" quoth he, so naturally I had to try it out. My left hook *sucks* I discovered. My right hook is slightly better, but it still felt pretty awkward. Husband then threw a slow (but surprise) straight right at me, and without a thought--and indeed taking myself by complete surprise--I executed the correct kung fu round block followed by what would have been a nice sturdy straight right punch of my own, if I hadn't pulled it in time.
It's nice to know that I have a couple of reflexes still online, with some appropriate responses to go with them.
I've always wanted to try to write a fight scene, so it looks like I'm going to get the opportunity to do it. I have all of space and time in which to stage it, so it won't be restricted by the baseline feudal fantasy setting.
I do get a personal flashback to when I (a demon) go to Catholic high school to learn about humans. Perhaps I could fight the wussy vampires who are also in the high school while I'm there.
