*Usual review disclaimer, plus declaration of interest that I am acquainted and/or friends with a number of people involved in this book's production. Not that that would slow me down any.*
Scary Kisses edited by Liz Gryzb (Ticonderoga Press) is a collection of short stories of a paranormal romance/dark fantasy bent. The bent bits are the best bits :-)
It's a bit beyond me to review each of the stories, but with one strangely jarring exception* they made a really solid group of works, even through the variety of subjects and characters. The end-note of comedy was just the right place to finish.
The romance was meaty (exceptionally so in places), the characters well-drawn, worlds well-built, and the stories nicely rounded. Maybe this collection will aid in the rehabilitation of my Twilight-afflicted niece.
Physically it's another beautifully-produced book, with an excellent cover, nice flop, and good margins and layout. Good stuff.
(*) IMO. I have a Thing about farce.
