Animal remains

For reasons that escape me (but possibly including the desire to avoid the 2009 wrap-up post) I thought I'd make a list of all of the animal products and/or remains I have or have had around my house. I'm not aware of any broken laws, although I might get in trouble if I tried to sell some of them.
It started as a list of curios (see tiger), but expanded to include edibles (see chicken), and then fauna (see cockroaches), but there's no way I'm going to list every species on my property. I've also made no attempt to list all the applications of one particular species (you want to track down all the wool and leather in your house, go right ahead). So in no particular order and with no claims to thoroughness:
Animal parts at Sector 7
* Sundry remains of edible domesticated beasts (chicken, sheep, cow, pig) mouldering in the where-scraps-go-to-die thingie. In theory it's a compost bin.
* Sundry remains of other edible beasts (fish, prawns, crayfish, rabbit, deer, duck), ditto in scraps thingie.
* Chicken poo and fish juice in garden products.
* Other bits of cow as leather (shoes, coat, riding crop, accessories), and possibly bone handled cutlery.
* Someone's feathers in a pillow and a doona, possibly goose.
* Other feathers in craft and cat toy collection, including backyard varieties (dove, magpie, honeyeater etc), peacock, chicken and possibly ostritch.
* Unknown critter's fur on toy mice. Probably shaved rabbit. If the cats are going to eat their cat toys I'd rather it be something they're designed to digest.
* Unknown critter's horn as knife handle from Grandma's house.
* Unknown soft leather on cat collar.
* Plenty of domestic cat fur (and claws, whiskers, vomit etc) from current and former pet cats.
* Selection of live bugs and small beasties including spiders, moths, flies, ants, crickets, praying mantis, bees, wasps, cockroaches, dust mites, snails, aphids, ladybugs etc
* Selection of local birds: magpies, butcher birds, kookaburras, doves, honeyeaters, finches, pigeons, parrots, willie wagtails. We're also overflown by large waterbirds such as pelicans, ibis, ducks, swans. Also sighted a small raptor.
* Skinks and geckos. Haven't seen any bigger reptiles around here.
* Digested remains of domestic mice.
* Probable dinosaur remains in plastics, but nothing more specific than that. Let's not get carried away.
* Paintbrush bristles, possibly pig, sable, camel.
* A ball of horse hair, collected at a riding camp. Also horsehair stuffing in Grandma's old furniture.
* Crocodile paw back scratcher. Gift from Mother. *shudder*
* Kitten stuffed toy that I suspect really was a kitten once. Gift from Mother. *shudder*
* Very small quantity of white tiger fur (with possible traces of tiger urine). Collected personally and manually!
* Small piece of shed snakeskin (species unknown) from Armidale Reptile Park (which is awesome - you should go there)
* Opalised fossilised triliobite
* Bodily remains of multiple species of coral polyps
* Variety of shells from ocean-dwelling molluscs
* Cultured pearls in jewellery.
* Sea sponge in painting kit.
* Rabbit fur in fur collection, rug, cat toys and toy rabbit. We called the toy rabbit Mr Bond ("Hello Mr Bond"). It was my first artificial cat substitute. There's probably a rabbit felt hat around here somewhere, possibly Russian military from BB's collection.
* Squirrel fur in fur collection and rug
* Silver fox in fur collection
* Red fox in fur collection and rug
* Egg shell, possibly from dove, collected from backyard
* Cuttlefish remains.
* I am forced to concede that the tribble isn't real.
* Kangaroo fur on old toy koala.
* Beeswax in candles.
* There's a tiny possibility of ivory inlay in some of Grandma's old stuff, but I couldn't swear to it.
* Alpaca wool gloves
* Lambswool rugs, carpet, socks, jumpers, ugg boots, footliners, floor protectors etc
Things we don't have around the house:
* Whale remains (no whalebone corsets, scrimshaw or expensive perfume)
* Emu eggs or leather
* Fleas
* Shark teeth
* Bugs in amber
* Anything domestic dog-related (fox fur is about the closest I can think of)
* Live fish
* Frogs (hard to confirm, but we don't have a wet area)
* Seagulls.
* Dinosaur fossils.
* Tortoise shell
* Monkey's paw
Believe me when I say this post got out of hand, probably because I came to the end of my actual animal curio list quite quickly. Still, it's not a bad selection of creatures.
