The film Stage Beauty has been on my to-see list for aaaaaaages, but I'd long since stopped looking for it at the local video shops. Yes, there's Planet Everything, but the 2 or 3 times I'd gone there with intent it hadn't been there. And so over time I forgot, but it's just finished on the ABC (thank you ABC!) and it was AWESOME!
Did he kill her? Was she dead? I couldn't tell! I really couldn't! Yay!
If only Shakespeare performances were that gripping all the time. I'm usually desperately focused on trying to extract meaning from the words; the acting I've seen has usually been the same. It's never really gripped me. I must see some well-acted Shakespeare and not listen to the words, but feel them, just get the shape of them.
I get it now: words are the enemy of poetry. I'm such an idiot.
