Sky
The sky report is not good, I'm afraid. There's an awful lot of very bright cloud out there and I think chances of meteor sightings are slim. I did see one last night, and a lot of aircraft. I wonder what you call the interval between sighting a moving object in the sky and realising it's merely an aircraft rather than a meteor. A whisper of hope? It reminds me of the interval between a lightning flash and the realisation that, even if there's thunder, the storm is too far away to be interesting. The hope strikes sharp and bright, like the lightning, but as the seconds pass the hope of thunder begins to fade.

There was no doubt with one bloody big plane that just passed way too close for comfort. Since the flight paths were shifted we get the odd one that seems very low, although not at the conversation-stopping volume of Queen's Park. With this one I could see individual windows (portholes?), and that felt a bit intimate.

Work
On the work front the news is very good. Today marked the passing of two milestones: a four-hour session, and more importantly the ability to slog through quite a bit of useful work whilst not feeling at my sharpest and cleverest best. I have enough different tasks on the go that I can switch around to do what I'm best capable of at the time. This is a Great Thing, and it means I'm breaking down the artificial fit-for-work barriers I'd somehow constructed. Today I cancelled the just-in-case followup session with the counsellor. I may need more help later, but it won't be with her.

Play

In the afternoon Husband took us out to play pool. We tried the local place behind the Warwick cinema, but the pool hall wasn't open until 5pm on Tuesday. I used to like bowling, but it's too hard on Husband's wrists, particularly now he's playing a lot more gigs. So, with some trepidation on my part we went to the Pot Black at Hillary's. Monday afternoon, daylight, not yet school holidays, we'd probably be safe, and so we were. I don't plan to push that kind of luck into the hours of darkness.

This afternoon the ocean was steel and silver, not blue and crystaline. Bad signs for one with desires on clear skies.

The pool was fun. We are as bad as each other, so we got an equal amount of table time. It took me a while to get my eye in (literally, to be able to use stereo vision), and my zen on. But when the two clicked it was magic and I rediscovered my mastery of practical geometry. I did my victory dance without any trace of self-consciousness, and boldly frowned, swore, gesticulated at and threatened Husband when shots went astray or were hopelessly snookered. And then I kissed him with enthusiasm, and bopped to the moderately pitched video juke box. It was serious fun.

Caffeine is not the friend of the pool cue, but it sure helps the party atmosphere.
