There's never really a *good* time for one's sole means of electronic communication and support to make funny noises, refuse to shut down, then struggle with application startups even after a couple of boots, a dusting, and a cooling off period.
Nice laptop.

Goooooooooood laptop. Stay with me, just a little bit longer.
Fortunately all the art show admin is now in dead tree format, although some of my panels might be a little rough if I lost all my notes. Staring at a thumb drive backup won't get me far without alternative hardware with which to access it. Now would also not be a good time to lose e-mail facilities. Or maybe it would :P
In brighter news, had a diagnostic win with my ancient and creaky work PC. It was taking much too long to talk to the print server. Long story short, I rooted out some conflicting legacy network registry settings and all is forgiven. Computers get very upset when they can't decide if two things are the same or different.
