Too many zeroes

So, I'm home, having shuffled the working and car dropoff plans and am now listening to the dulcet tones of roof plumbing destruction. Hopefully to be followed by the sounds of reconstruction before the next rain.
Part of the job has been deferred because (surprise surprise) "no-one uses that length of pipe any more" and Bits had to be ordered in. The job also started about 2 hours late due to an overflow from the day before. I can live with that. None of this effects the rest of the schedule. Actually there's a hiccough in the rest of the schedule because the next cab off the rank has gone quiet.
What was slightly less expected was the call from the garage where I left the Catmobile for a minor service/oil change. It seems several deferred chickens have come to roost at once and also, horror of horrors, she has a minor oil leak. Since one of those deferred chickens was some brake work first suggested maybe 3 years ago I figured I'd give in, but chose the cheaper re-machining option. I am *very* kind to my brakes, but I must eventually defer to the inevitable.
Another bit of major work was a timing chain replacement, which again I've been deferring on the basis that I had it done ahead of schedule while getting something else done (perhaps replacing a water pump - Hyundai seems to have trouble with its water pumps). It occurred to me today that even if that were true, it was probably due to get done again anyway. I have all my service records, but most are filed under P for Pile.
On the bright side, the new timing chain augers well for future fanging opportunities :-)
So, today is working out to be costing just over $2000, about twice what I was expecting. I think a little lie down is in order.
