Perhaps oxygen is my friend after all. Feeling tired now after a disturbed night and another relatively busy day, but am still pleased with the day's progress.

* Went to work in two shifts today, separated by lunch (OK, half a head of lettuce) with M&D. Asked awkward questions about data synchronisation. What other kind are there?

* Returned 1987 high school yearbook to M&D, a mere year or so after I'd borrowed it to study for the reunion.

* Took receipt of a disturbing call and e-mail from my car insurance company, featuring words of the pay-demand-pursue variety. In the end (and with the benefit of my paperwork around me, my Visa, and a clear landline), sorted that this was just my insurance excess. I had broken the system by not bothering to actually claim my granted claim for repairs, so I didn't get an invoice from the panelbeater, who couldn't file with the insurer, who couldn't/wouldn't then pay the other driver's insurer etc etc. I was assured that this would have had no impact on the other driver's access to repairs. That should be the end of it.

* Braved the shed to retrieve the long (7 years?) neglected wading pool that I had foolishly offered for free without imagining that it might have not survived long storage unscathed. I had been prepared for a bit of bug-poo scrubbing and repackaging, but the soft plastic bits were too far gone to contemplate. Denaturing plastics anyone? I can't bring myself to toss the PVC framework, for all the lengths of pipe and interesting corner bits look so very potentially *useful*. Plus I was frightened off by a redback the size of an aircraft carrier (and its big friend), so decided to defer the issue. "Tackle the shed" has become another list item for the house, albeit at somewhat low priority.

* At [livejournal.com profile] drhoz's suggestion I called Termico to arrange a quote for termite discouragement. As a bonus I get 15% off for being an RAC member. The booking lass was extremely (but not excessively) friendly.

* I brought in the laundry. Not so long ago, this would have been the spoon highlight of my day, if not my week.

Of course, while not being gassed is nice, I know that a goodly part of my recent return to better health must have something to do with avoiding hospitals. On TV last night I heard the sounds of multiple drips going beep. It was probably an intensive care unit in Gaza, but it took me back to the cancer ward instantly and shockingly. The contact with the insurance company reminded me of the hospital carpark. All this activity around the house reminds me that for a long time any spare energy would be packed into the car and off into city traffic, and more than consumed before I got home again.

And not just me. So many lives consumed by the one illness. I still don't know what it's going to be, but I remain determined to do something for the Cancer Council this year. Unfortunately I lack formal qualifications so can't do massage.

I take it as a sign of progress that I am reminded of the stresses of last year without being immediately overwhelmed with thoughts of BB himself. There is still sadness of course, but the shock is fading. Most of the estate business is wrapped up, leaving only the sale of the flat to go. A month or two more and the Stuff will be mostly dealt with.
