Not to scale

The world is full of illusions.
Physical
This evening I weighed myself to come in at the lowest weight since measurements have been regularly recorded - just over 2 years. At this point and with a couple of kilos error I can comfortably claim to have lost 12 kilos and maintained that loss long term. More--but not radically more--than 10% body weight. However, I'm an awful blobby shape, so the scales are meaningless until I firm up a bit and I regain muscle tone and my bonus nicer wardrobe. At least I can imagine that happening now.
Auditory
For the last year or so I've had a soft jangly ringtone on my mobile, for I am always embarrassed when it rings in an enclosed space. And hey, it doesn't ring that often. But for a few weeks, possibly more, I've been convinced that it's been ringing more and more. Months ago in the car I tracked the false alarms down to the music behind the news on the radio. I couldn't answer the phone on the move so was surprised at the absence of missed calls later. But on hearing the ringtone at home I simply threw myself in the direction of the bottomless abyss of my zipper-defended carniverous handbag to fish the thing out, to no avail.
I have annoyingly sensitive hearing, and I have begun to suspect that one of the neighbours has the same ringtone, or possibly a video game with compatible tones. It only takes a couple of notes to trigger melody recognition.
Tonight I heard it again, but since Husband is doing some arranging I thought perhaps he was the source of the tinkles. Apparently not.
And so, I have changed my ringtone to something irritating and 80's pop-like which I've already forgotten (it's Option 5), and upped the volume. Let's see what happens next. Hopefully not auditory hallucinations or ASIO gaslight attacks on my sanity. No, no, of course not. Hahahaha.
Culinary
Have had a bit of digestive trauma this evening, with two possible culprits: yesterday's Tim Tams and 2 serves of chickpeas (both ably assisted by a coffee this morning). One of these food items I would have to avoid henceforth. Tim Tams was already on the verboten list, so it remains to be seen if I can tolerate chickpeas.
I used to HATE chickpeas as a bland filler of crumbly flavourlessness, so it took me until this week to finally try some canned ones for a bit of beige variety. To my astonishment I found them yummy, rather like nutty asparagus. Probably all the salt in the can, but I don't care (at least not until I get my ECG results). If I can eat these it makes a massive difference in my ability to mobile cater.
As a result I find myself hoping that I am being punished for eating Tim Tams, and that I will be able to eat chickpeas to my heart's content. More beige madness.
