Spoons!

I seemed to have a whole bunch of extra spoons today, so went ahead and used them.

Spoon theory in general calls for careful expenditure of energy and effort, so the more visible house and garden jobs tend to get most attention. If, of course, there is any attention to spare after the non-negotiables like basic grooming, laundry and food acquisition.

Today, however, I went old school and just let myself do whatever jobs attracted my attention. Once I got into the swing of it, this even involved power tools! Yay!

I did the usual grocery shopping.

I made soup. Actual proper--albeit beige--soup. I got a little overexcited and purchased a whole field mushroom to put in the stock, so we'll see if I spontaneously combust from vitamin overload. It wasn't great soup, but it was certainly more soup-like than my last attempt. I stretched the beige rules a bit with my use of chicken bones.

I put up some hooks in the bathroom.

I hung and polished BB's mirror opposite the front door. I can't recall if this is good or bad feng shui (about which I used to care a lot, back when I had more control over my environment). There's the "reflecting the demons" thing, but there's also the "wealth out the front door" thing. I vote for the former. Plus, I can now check my appearance before leaving the house, thus removing all excuses.

I hung several pictures, in the process drilling two new holes. It was as fiddly as I remembered, but hardly the drama I usually make it out to be. I did have one tricky moment when I dropped my chuck key. I was reminded of the woeful inadequacy of my supply of power points.

I ventured to the southern suburbs for a couple of hours of Swancon programming. Very awesome.

I observed with dismay the remains of King's Park and saw the helitacs working this afternoon's breakout. One big rain and the whole thing will wash into the river.

I dropped off some stuff at my (biggest) sister's and had a bit of a high-speed one-sided chat. I'm happy to enjoy a bit of hyperactivity now and then, even if the family have trouble keeping up.

I went to Bunnings late in the afternoon. Didn't think this one through or I would have realised how massively busy the place was late on a Saturday. Still, managed to acquire silicone for sundry holes around the place, and a sample pot for the latest attempt to find a colour for the living room. Failed to locate a new filter for the recently-acquired but sadly-cigarettish DustBuster. Forgot light globes.

Noted the completion of the tree removal; tried to ignore the now starkly revealed state of the fence. Fortunately am on good if vague terms with that set of neighbours. I actually share a fence with 5 different households, not all of whom I've met.

Contemplated with concern the recently-averted consequences of the gas leak 2-3m from the hot water system pilot light, and heavy chainsaw activity.

I re-arranged quite a bit of Stuff here and there.

I did not nap.

I'd quite like to keep this pace up. It feels like I could get a few things done.
