Visited the folks this afternoon after a few days of being well and truly out of action. I have a lot of parental stroking to catch up on. It's very rewarding; they both purr loudly.
Conversation focused on practicalities but on a couple of occasions the talk of cemetaries, memorials, probate, estates and so on became a bit weighty. Silence fell, to be broken by Father's words "But on a lighter note..."
Mother and I looked up expectantly.
Silence reigned.
"Um, sorry, can't think of anything."
We laughed.
