It's raining Mn

Big (slightly caffeine-assisted) day at work today, including an introduction to the wonderful world of Manganese ore blending and recovery. If you have 19 pits each producing 7 classes (not grades) of ore that require separate crusher and recovery calculations, blending into 4 stockpiles as classified by tolerances on 6 variables, then blending into shiploads as per customer requirements *deep breath* you don't want to do it with a spreadsheet. May as well use chicken entrails.

An office mate lost her sister to suicide yesterday :-(
Early this morning one of our sub-tenants put up a huge sign in the shared reception area. Over the top of our sign and without mentioning it to anyone. I guess they figured that forgiveness would be easier to obtain than permission. I think not.
brrrrrrrr
Aparently the sign will only be up "for a week" which suggests to me that someone else is about to do due diligance on them and they want to look more impressive. No-one there admitted to knowing anything about it, but liked my theory. They'd best keep me away from their auditors then >:-|
Other stuff
Husband is sworn to secrecy re the state government debate (until 6:30pm at least), but can report sadly that he was not one of the 30 people who were lucky enough to get worms. That's right, when the media and politicians go crazy over the figures, just remember what kind of sample space we're talking about.
However, he did score an interesting souvenir on his way out - Alan Carpenter's notes for his opening and closing remarks. Ooer. Surprisingly the notes lacked any "stay grumpy" reminders.
But more importantly...
Top Gear is back tonight!
