UniSFA's 30th

I am theoretically very excited to be attending UniSFA's 30th anniversary celebration this evening.
Joining UniSFA was a significant milestone in my life; like many members my life before then was one of unpopular nerdishness. Being female in the days of massive gender imbalance had additional benefits. I'm also terribly pleased that many friendships made nearly 20 years ago are still going strong, and that I am a member of an intelligent, interesting, and growing community.
In practice I'm in pain, desperate to be away from the rain*, and not looking forward to being confronted with food I shouldn't eat. Once I'm there I know I'll be much happier, but from where I sit right at this moment it's a big mountain to climb to get there.
(*) I dreamed about rain last night. No fair.
