Casino Royale

Husband has been keen to see the 2006 edition of Casino Royale, the first of the new Daniel Craig Bond films, and so tonight was the night. I would have much preferred to visit
redbraids, but I wasn't safe to drive :-(
Sadly Daniel Craig failed in the critical Phwoar stakes, and I just wasn't in the mood for most of the action, chase or fight scenes. Staggering, I know, but I couldn't help the disapproving frowns and mutterings of "stupid" at some of the more inconvenient destruction. Messy, Bond, messy.
I think there was a critical lack in the baddie department, and the generic "money for terrorists" motivation wasn't particularly interesting. I appreciate that it was close to the book.
A few moments of serious pretty horse action near the beginning helped a bit, as did the shiny gowns in the casino. I had no problem with the darker virtually humourless story, but I just didn't care about the characters or the narrative enough to hold my attention for the 2+ hours.
As I write this Husband is trawling the special features, and the more I look at Craig's face the less attractive I find it :-(
ETA: Oddly enough after a good night's sleep I'm feeling much better about the film in retrospect.
