Have you tried looking at fabric at places like Spotlight? It's a good way to see a lot of a colour at once, as opposed to little tiny swatches in paint charts. A minimum 20cm section is usually cheap in plain fabrics and easy to drape over walls and furniture. If you find a fabric that works you can take it to a paint place for matching, then work your way from there to allow for different finishes.
