Just as I believed I'd found the colours for the bedroom, a thought began to intrude today: it's very brown. It being Taurus Red, destined for the wall initially intended to be festooned with the elusive Bordello Red. Colours. Chatty things.

I now have a sample of the lighter and theoretically redder Tosca drying ever so slowly and I await the final effect with interest. It's still quite an earthy red, but closer in saturation to the olive/khaki swags it will be making friends with, and closer in depth to the Creamed Spinach to go on the other walls. Still deeply in love with Creamed Spinach.

Lesson firmly learned: Suede FX paint charts are pants. Only the real thing will do.

I also treated myself to a nice new 100mm paintbrush, and a tube of something with which to disguise my cornice cracks. Maybe one day I'll publish pictures of them, to add to my how-badly-built-was-my-house collection. Actually, they're pretty ordinary cornice cracks, nothing as exciting as the wiring, plumbing, roofing, paving, retic, tiling, cupboards, doors etc etc. Come to think of it, they may be the most normal thing here.

The other sample pots won't go astray; they're in the right colour neighbourhood for some feature bits here and there. Maybe some stamping around the door frames. Hmmmm...

EDIT: Hang on, it's a Pilbera palette (Tosca is drying orangey). I wonder if I can create an Aboriginal/North African fusion look? Hmmmm... Moorish tile patterns rendered in dots... Gods, no wonder I have trouble shopping.
