It's a miracle! I can post pictures again. This pretty rock has been waiting a long time. The prehnite is the lumpy stuff, the apophyllite is the chunky stuff. These are technical terms.
Halite is rock salt with impurities that give it interesting colours. You see a lot of it turned into light fittings and cardiac conditions, but this piece retains its crystalline structure. I should probably find out if the impurities in my chunk make it toxic in any way, in case the apocalypse comes and I need to flavour my gruel or barter for socks.
You've met my calcite group before as one of my earliest pretty rock posts. I plan to revist them as individuals one day now I'm getting a better hang of this rock photography gig. Today's blue calcite is a new acquisition.
Once upon a time there was a tree. One day the tree got stoned. We all know what happens after that: fossilization is a gateway process to heroin addiction. That tree is going to steal your iPad. I should probably go to sleep some time soon.
