That was a big storm

I've been amazed today by all the storm damage reports coming in from people I know. I think the main surprise factor comes from the wide area of damage. Perth gets storms all the time, from winter fronts to stray cyclones to more than a few tornadoes, but the area of intense damage is usually very limited to a strip of suburbia, and so statistically the chances of knowing (or indeed being) one of the afflicted are low.
