Today's pool-companion metaphor

I've noticed a posting pattern, but can I resist an awkward metaphor to describe the people with whom I share the pool for physio? No I cannot. Mea culpa.
Today I observed a snail doing backstroke. Very peaceful, not much splash, little forward (or backward, if you like) motion, plenty of wobbly progress from one side of the lane to the other. The great advantage for a snail doing backstroke is that one's eyes are on the end of your "arms" thus saving you from the knuckle- and/or head-cracking surprise that generally greets the end of a backstroke lap.
At least, that was how my backstroke laps always ended, back when my arms used to go over my head. Strangely my uncle used to be a champion Masters' backstroker, even through three hip replacements before 60 (go those family genes). Unfortunately he had to give up after donating a kidney to his wife. Live kidney donation is hard on the donor.
Do I spend much of my 20 laps thinking about these posts? Yes I do, it distracts me. Did I start to conjecture about snail slime in the water? Yes I did. Very briefly.
