Have just returned from taking Cally to the vet for some relief for her arthritis. If you've ever wondered who funds vet science research, well, that would be me.

We're into experimental treatment land. The kind that has the vet fishing out the fine print of the instructions to frown and scribble and tinker with a calculator.

Actually, we're in option 1 of 3 experimental treatment land. Or x of y; I'm frankly losing track. Tempted though I am to make hyperbolous comparisons with BB's chemotherapy, I'll pass on this occasion.

I did find it disturbing to be offered medical treatment choices for which I had no basis for comparison other than the convenience factor to me and the stress level to Cally. The consequences of the human version of events make for nightmares. I look forward to new episodes of House.

So, before I forget, she'll be taking (or rather I'll be administering) Metacam oral suspension for cats. A daily dose of 4 1/2 thingies (not ml, mg or cubits) on the mysteriously calibrated syringe, starting on Sunday.

That's one dose of (4 + 1/2) mystery units per day, not 4 x 1/2 mystery units per day. Same dose, every day, no loading (not one day of 4 units then 1/2 a unit each day).

I wasn't leaving until I was as sure as I could be that I had it right.
