OMG what have I done

I sit here under several layers of pins, plastic and (old) towelling, stewing in an fairly small amount of purple hair dye in just one streak. I've been trying to figure out when I could fit this task in, and this afternoon, after a poorly scheduled Bad Day I thought "Why not right now?". The decision helped by discovering I was not required for a certain corporate session tomorrow, but hindered by a pending decision to attend a funeral on Thursday morning.
So here we are, wondering if the stuff will (a) stay in my hair, and (b) come off the rest of the house. Oh and (c) look deeply ridiculous.
Previous experience would suggest that no-one will be able to tell the difference.
ETA:
"Rinse until the water runs clear" seemed to take a very long time. I feel eco-guilt :-(
It's still wet and I'll let it dry naturally, but the new bit looks different at least. Time will tell what type of different. Thanks to
delicious_irony for the advice. I find nail polish remover also good for clearing up skin. I managed to avoid scalp and hairline, but for all I know the back of my right ear looks like I've had an argument with an elephant.
I was also reminded of why I gave up colouring my hair at home many years ago. Tis a bitche, aye.
Not helped by a skunk experience created when I did my roots in my usual deep red to discover I suddenly had blonde roots. Nordic Blonde, to be precise, for when I fished it out of the bin I found that's what someone at the supermarket had put into the box.
