The boys in the ACS are doing it again

The subject for this evening's ACS meeting was the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA, pronounced "Sophia"). It's a framework for determining the type of skills an individual has and level at which they operate. It seems to be a reasonably practical sort of system, somewhat akin to outcomes-based curriculum. Part of the intent is to assess the individual's suitability for particular jobs (to be redefined as skills profiles), and to more clearly define the pre-requisites and desired outcomes of training courses; the befores and afters.

You're Romana!

Silly Doctor. It's adorable, really, how hard he tries. And he is pretty brilliant, you'll give him that. But he always seems to overlook the obvious--including the fact that he's not the only Gallifreyan onboard, thank you very much. You are always calm and collected, and more often than not wonderfully witty, in the face of adversity. The Doctor knows he can count on you, even when you infuriate him!

Woo Who!

I am so loving Matt Smith's Doctor Who, and the Weeping Angels still scare my socks off. Little more with itty bitty spoiler. )

New NewWho

Being on a FTA broadcast schedule I've just now seen the second New New Doctor Who (XI) and feel sufficiently qualified to comment. And without being too specific about any of it: Read more... )

Unexpected mashup

I've been putting a forelock on the plasticine horse, strand by strand I might add - it's a bit Medusa-ish. I kept wanting to make it a bit more bouffant, until it suddenly occurred to me that it was starting to look like David Tennant's hair. Dr Hoof?

Donna!

I have now seen the NewWho Catherine Tate debut "The Runaway Bride"

Some things are explained.

I got a dose of Donna and her potential and her sass.

I got a dose of Ten and his hair and big sad eyes.

I am inspired to track down all of Donna's eps. I must own them. Yes, even "The Doctor's Daughter". JBHiFi, here I come.

New toys

I was sucked into the vortex of temptation today and came out with the following:

* Doctor Who. S3 V1. The Runaway Bride (which I've not yet seen); Music and Monsters
* Doctor Who. S3 V4. Human Nature; The Family of Blood; Blink (woohoo!)
* Life in the Undergrowth (Complete Series). David Attenborough

And that's how you stay married

Had an hour of Tennant ogling tonight with bonus native accent. I could even forgive the beard after a while. I paused in the middle of phwoarage to belatedly enquire of Husband if he felt at all threatened.

"Nah" quoth he, "He's a Time Lord. Can't commit."

ED: Quote corrected, pardon me.

I <3 Steven Moffat

Tonight courtesy of legal free-to-air broadcast television (remember that, people?) it was my pleasure to watch the NewWho episode 'Silence in the Library'. Wow, so good. I'm not sure I'll be able to restrain myself from hunting down spoilers to see what happens to Donna before next week. And I am normally *very* good at that particular flavour of restraint.

Normally.

NewWho: The Wasp and the Unicorn

It can surely not count as a spoiler that I enjoyed this ep more than The Doctor's Daughter last week. I did lose a bet though - I thought Donna would cry (again).
