It's a small town

Because someone set fire to our usual venue, next week's ACS meeting has been relocated to The Melbourne Hotel at the corner of Hay and Milligan in the city. That's the intersection which hosted an interesting car crash last week, where a P plater went through a red light, clipped a CAT bus then ploughed through the glass front of a restaurant. Fortunately it was after the lunch rush so numbers were few and injuries minor. Can't say the same for the state of the traffic jam afterwards.

Additional signs of normality. Mostly.

Somewhere between 3 and 4AM I failed to sight any meteors. Once back in bed I let myself sleep in then got another 3 hours in at work before I started limping. This whole sitting business appears to be much more complicated than necessary, but I'm enjoying every minute of productivity. At home I had one of those slow motion watch-yourself-do-something-stupid moments.

Do tell. )

Vehicular insanity

Had a curious experience on the road this morning. Someone drove through a red light at pretty much the same time I was driving through a green light. Do not try this at home.

Another list

Perhaps oxygen is my friend after all. Feeling tired now after a disturbed night and another relatively busy day, but am still pleased with the day's progress.

And that's what I'll tell the judge.

When we arrived home after Quantum of Solace my happiness was somewhat tempered by the discovery that one of my headlights had blown. That's one bit of maintenance I couldn't let slide, so I rationed some spoons to see to the job today.

I have been weighed and measured

Or rather, the repairer's quote has been assessed and approved. Things are ticking along nicely, insofar as "nicely" can apply to the current situation.

Insurance company: "You can't submit a claim until you have a quote for repairs"
Panelbeater: "We can't give you a quote without a claim number"

There's a lot to be said for letting it all hang out.

Efficiency is eerie

It's exactly three weeks since the accident. Today I received a cheque from CGU for the full sum insured (minus excess). I also found out that because I'd paid for no claim bonus protection we keep our no claim bonus, as long as nothing bad of a vehicular nature happens in the next 12 months.

That would make this an anti-rant post. A tnar. I don't know what to do with myself.

*twiddles thumbs*

BTW CGU FTW

Oops

It would appear that I (or my Magic Misfortune-Detecting Bank Account(tm)) was responsible for the car accident.

I'd forgotton I wrote this a couple of weeks ago: "Psst. Don't tell the car."

Of course, we also managed to squeeze in two separate cat vet bills in the interim.

I stand by my right to have been a little stressed lately.

Car news

Although we found a perfect-seeming candidate replacement car Husband hasn't exactly been in the mood to get behind the wheel so we might lose that particular opportunity. There will be others. Lovely [livejournal.com profile] leecetheartist is assisting with the search for a bike.

Just got a call from the assessors who say that the poor Excel aka Jezebel (for she was a rental for her first two years) is going to the car farm for a long holiday and may be some time.

The wheels of justice and insurance continue to turn. Apparently it will take three weeks for the police paperwork to catch up.

His bruise continues to change like a furry sunset, but it doesn't seem to slow him down at all. He's got a tunnel training session today, so that might be more of a test.

And now we watch the letterbox and pray for the rapid recovery of the others.
