$4,300 quote for a laundry list of home maintenance jobs, from tree removal to soakwell repair to gutter replacement and hole patching. One ring to rule them all guy (+ offsider a.k.a "young bloke") to do it all, which is convenient, but ouch.

EDIT: We have a gas leak of some description. After an hour, the meter had moved a bit. Actually it still might easily be within error range, but someone is coming around tomorrow to check.

By virtue of abandoning good wall preparation practice, doing frankly stupid things with my nice curtains in lieu of dismantlement, and adopting lower standards to edge management I have completed the last of the first coat of paint in the bedroom.

Painting again
I have officially started painting the bedroom. Well, when I say "painting" I have yet to apply any actual paint, per se. I haven't even washed the walls. I have, however, considerably thinned the amount of stuff in the bedroom, some of which has been there since previous renovation efforts required furniture shuffling. We also cleared furniture away from the first couple of walls to be painted, and vacuumed all over. This raised several generations of departed dust bunnies from the more obscure corners, and so we've had the windows open the air everything out. Feels good.

Just as I believed I'd found the colours for the bedroom, a thought began to intrude today: it's very brown. It being Taurus Red, destined for the wall initially intended to be festooned with the elusive Bordello Red. Colours. Chatty things.

That's a funny-looking horse
...but the view is nice. Yes, I am officially back on the horse and have had a very busy and productive day. As long as I get a good sleep tonight I should be fine for the Swancon committee meeting tomorrow. It's a bit of a hike, but the company is most pleasant and knowledgable. Good source of hugs too.
