More family photos

I've scanned a new batch of family photos today, primarily for the purpose of talking about Calisthenics and Mum's amazing ability to sew sequins on demand. Got distracted by the older black and whites and felt the urge to post a few family shots in no readily apparent order.

I'll start with me. Am I not the cutest thing?

Actually, according to the judges in the baby competition this photo was sent to I was the second cutest thing, but I've always liked this shot of me as a grubby toddler sitting in the bin.

This is me with Eldest Sister at about age 10, included for rarity value. She did a good job of avoiding the camera in her childhood. The curse of the shy tall child :-(

Back to me now, and here I am waving some weighted clubs. These semi-lethal weapons were some of the apparatus used by small children in the aforementioned Calisthenics, and this set belonged to one of my three sisters. All four of us girls participated in what was Most Definitely a girls only activity. LBS will feature prominently in a future Calisthenics post, because she made it to State Team level whereas the rest of us... did not.

Back a bit further now to The Time Before Me. A shot of the siblings with Father Christmas, circa 1965 I'd say. I hope Santa got danger money that day. Points of interest: BB's enormous ears and suspiciously placid expression (Santa obviously had his eye out for trouble), Middle Sister's impressively blank stare on the left, and London-Based Sister's clear desire to be elsewhere. London, perhaps.

This is a rare group shot of the entire Mob of 5, all squeezed in under Dad's original radio tower which was a very flimsy windmill base. Note the terribly dangerous ladder, and yet we all survived living under its shadow. I'm the toddler at the front, face to face with (surprise surprise) a cat. That was a young Tom, who belonged to our new neighbours but definitely included our back yard in his territory. They'd recently had a baby now known as [livejournal.com profile] doctor_k_.

Again included for rarity value is three full generations of Grahams with myself as youngest, all 4 siblings, M&D, and Dad's parents. Grandma is the one wearing the awesome glasses. There are *very* few photos containing both myself and Grandad because he moved to Sydney shortly after and passed away in the early 70s. I was much too young to remember him :-(

And to finish on a colourful note, here's a stray shot from the early 80's of M&D in the kitchen, with its somewhat striking *thwack* daisy wallpaper, classic wood-grain trim, and yellow/orange countertops. Mum did the daisy embroidery over the window herself.

Huh, I did callisthenics. I think I've got the stripey batons around somewhere.
