eBay adventures

You win some you lose some.

Pipped at the post once more for some difficult to acquire (but tiny!) native silver and gold crystal specimens, despite using auction software for last moment bids. Someone else was even faster and bid harder so I lost both by 50c!. A learning experience, although I thought I'd made some progress beyond n00b.

As compensation minutes later there was a knock at the door which was a chunk of green fluorite in matrix from Queensland and it is GORGEOUS.

I recommend setting the bids to be greater than 50c increments (if you can). Most people go up by 50c so if you go up by 51, 62 or whatever you increase your chance. Of course, if their max is higher than yours, then they are more likely to win :(

My max bids tend to be quite odd numbers like $21.67. The actual increments are set by ebay. Of course, bidding a maximum of a zillion dollars would probably work but I'm not quite *that* keen. Part of the game is watching the market to get a feel for going prices and there have been very few examples of this sort of thing thus far. Even now I don't know if the person who won got a bargain, a normal retail price, or paid a fortune.

It's a game *shrug*
