New NewWho

Being on a FTA broadcast schedule I've just now seen the second New New Doctor Who (XI) and feel sufficiently qualified to comment. And without being too specific about any of it:

I like Matt Smith, he's got that Tom Baker crazy thing going on. He does a much better-than-expected job of looking like an old soul in a young body. I tried to keep expectations to a minimum, but I couldn't ignore his youth, but now I'm quite happy.

Amy is a nice combination of the best of Sarah-Jane and Donna.

Happy noises :-)

I really enjoyed it too. I'm glad you get the whiff of Tom Baker about Matt Smith, because I was thinking the same thing. I like the way he is facially a bit odd looking. Adds to the character. I am going to wait as far as Amy goes, not sure yet.

I have found the last few actors have played the doctor like they are fan boys who can't believe that they get to BE the doctor. A constant background noise of 'This is SO COOL, I am SO COOL, AWESOME'. I wished they would tone down the wild enthusiasm and amp up the eccentric professor aspect of the character. It looks like they are doing that with this one.
