Signs of improvement

Incorporating a small rant (which in itself is a sign of improvement).

Was pressed into compulsory administrivia activity earlier today by the arrival of the new Visa card, positively bristling with security features. Managed to change direct debit details for 2/3 companies, with the gym accounts department being curiously unwilling to answer the phone. I'll try again later.

Went to the shops for critical hunt-and-gatherage (cat food) and noticed in passing that the local Coles are discriminating against the beige-eating peoples of the world once again by removing rice flour from the flour section. I couldn't see it in the rice section, nor in the specialist baking section, but lacked the will to search further. Could be some in the hippy health food section. Or anywhere, frankly. Their taxonomic tendencies are irregular at best.

The flour section has been taken over by several shelves' worth of bread mixes. A response, I wonder, to the annual Christmas exchange of breadmaking machines? The New Year's I-will-bake-my-own-bread resolution demographic? Or perhaps the OMG-global-financial-collapse-I-will-make-my-own-bread-to-save-money crowd? I also note a return to Great Depression chic flour tins. What a wonderful marketing opportunity, this disaster thingie.

The new credit card worked first go *exhales*.

On return and rest I found the energy to pick up the phone to get the house repair schedule back into gear, and so I have a soakwell quote and two window quotes in the pipeline. Although I expect the soakwell should actually go at the end of the pipeline, not inside it... This in marked contrast to earlier today where I just could *not* face the idea of more phonecalls, explanations, and decisions.

Right now I'm celebrating the fact that I don't feel the urge to lie down immediately, so fingers crossed for the morrow.

I laughed at your flour usage description :-)
