Some conversational highlights
This morning I recalled a couple of memorable moments from last night's generally bland reunion.
Me (with perfect contentment and satisfaction): "...and I became the geek I was destined to be."
She1 (reacting as one might to a confession of suicidal thoughts): "Stephanie! Don't say that. I used to talk to you."
Me (laughing in hopefully a superior fashion, although I can't recall that clearly): "What's wrong? Geeks rule the universe."
and later...
She1: "You all love Kevin Rudd. The geeks are taking over!"
So I guess the social stratification is still there. Us and Them. I was amused that she was trying to reassure me that I couldn't have been a geek because *she* spoke to me. QED If I had been a geek she wouldn't have.

Me (on observing the entrance of a distinctly older-looking grey-haired classmate): "Wow! He looks 100!"
She2 (shocked): "Stephanie! Don't say that! Tonight is about flattery, not the truth!"
Me: "You don't remember me very well do you?"
I didn't notice until I'd written this down that my two favourite moments from last night both featured someone else saying "Stephanie! Don't say that!" LOL

EDIT: Just remembered an interesting throwaway line that's perked me up a bit: "I bet you don't have children. You look young." :-)
