Reviews: Scalzi x 2
Usual "review" disclaimer: I include as many of the aspects of a review as I feel inclined at time of writing. Right now, hot and tired and not in the mood for analysis.
The Ghost Brigades
Sequel to Old Man's War. Perfect in every way that matters to me. That is all.
The Android's Dream
Highly reminiscent of Michael Crighton's Next, insofar as one was required to keep track of a large cast of political and/or criminal figures, and characters were being chased for their DNA. Chapter 1 finished so neatly I actually checked the back cover of the book to see if I was reading an anthology. Don't get me wrong, it was an entertaining short story, but I was surprised by Chapter 2. Perhaps relabelled as a prologue it wouldn't have jarred so much.
That aside it was an amusing read. Saved from the edge of wacky by Scalzi's wit and a few poignant observations about war. And sheep.
I liked it more than the preceeding comments would suggest.
