Cat furniture politics

Cally has decided that she likes the padded top of the hamburger poof cat thing.

For a long time after purchase the hamburger poof thing (with hollow cat cave) stood as an ugly testiment to my apparent failure to satisfy feline furnishing requirements.

Then came the padded chicken igloo, which everyone had a go at before Cally claimed as her very own. Victory.

The hamburger stood desolate. Occasional use as a laptop stand wasn't enough to soothe it's hurt feelings. (I feel the urge to insert a joke here about identifying hurt feelings in a poof, but that would be Just Wrong, even though I'm sure my gay friends would forgive me. Remind me to post about the old days at The Red Lion).

The recent acquisition of a padded fish igloo invited a lot of interest, and Princess emerged victorious from the universal sampling process.

And then for unknown reasons, and months after purchase, Princess decided that the padded hamburger thing would make an excellent posing platform. That was a mystery, because that's one of the reasons I bought it, Princess being a connoisseur of comfy padded surfaces. Perverse things, cats. I feel I'm the victim of reverse negative negative psychology.

Mere days later Cally decided that *she* likes the hamburger thing, and there she sits, with Princess a cross spectator. When I gently reminded her that she was perfectly happy with the fish igloo she merely sniffed.

The fish and chicken igloos stand empty.

Cally rides the hamburger.

Princess nurses hurt feelings.

And Pumpkin? He loves everone and everything, always.

Ahh. Savour the moment, and enjoy the subtlety of the play as your cats partake of that most cerebral of pass times: Cat Chess.

Even for us poor, ignorant, and crude simians, it is a game of astounding skill, although we cannot comprehend it's true complexities.

ah, well, he obviously has enough spare apostrophes to afford it, or he wouldn't be leaving them lying around like that, would he?

I blame a small infestation of grammarsites. However, it looks as though it has been contained.

I'm sure Cally is playing Cat (Deathmatch) Chess. Princess is probably playing Cat Gin Rummy and Pumpkin is playing Pull My Finger.
