Glee love

I'm in no condition to write a seriously well considered post about the impact of the TV show Glee on The Youth of Today, and whether it's displaying the most harmful form of tokenism that will destroy the lives, hopes and dreams of thousands of teens. So I will say that I've come to it late, but that Husband and I have decided that we both enjoy watching it for different reasons, and we watch it together.

I like it for the high production values in the performances, the shortened versions of performances. Most of the performances are performances, not burst-into-song moments of conversation. The lesson for the week themes reminds me of the television of my youth, where you'd get some moral or ethical message rammed down your throught for every episode of Brady Bunch, The Cosby Show, Diffrent Strokes or Silver Spoons one watched. Often groan-worthy and heavy handed, but in a way I miss the regular dosage of Life Lessons for the kids.

Husband remembers his high school days in drama classes, choirs, bands and school musical productions.

There are good guys and bad guys, and afaict character changes going on all the time. It's fast and pretty, and frequently funny. I'm not sold on the heartwarming bits, but they seem to be in the minority.

I'm interested to know what you my readers think about the show: there are plenty of opinions out there, but I want to know what you think.
