It's Spring!

Officially. Right now I'm filtering chemicals through my insides once more in order to not offend the eye of the alien scheduled to probe me later this morning. Hang on, I thought I was the alien. Can't lie down for a bit and am officially fasting so can't even drink more water to get rid of the taste.

I *hope* I get through this morning with some shred of dignity. Most of it is lost to me I'm sure, but there are a few scenarios I hope to avoid.

It will help to think of myself as a piece of meat (and let's not forget offal) and treat all physical insult as impersonal.

I had a cardiogram once where I learned this lesson. Stripped to the waist by two efficient male technicians who stuck things on me before rolling me back and forth a bit to repeat same on my back. I then lay there (no talking please) for a few minutes while they got their trace, conferred briefly, unplugged me and took their gear away. Not entirely; when I got home after the procedure (which involved a general anaesthetic) I found one of the sensors left stuck under my arm.

My insides are gurgling. Time to listen to those inner voices. They whisper with deceptive mildness.

When I had the arthroscope on my knee, my anaesthetists were two young, rather good looking men, who had to push my semi bare, covered only by a hospital gown, bod about. Not good.

Hope it goes well, I guess the nature of the operation means dignity will be a little tricky to preserve. I will be thinking of you today.
