Hollywood's idea of a reward

We've just watched the wierdest damn film ever. After the 4 x Oscar success of All About Eve (1950), writer and director Joseph L. Mankiewicz was rewarded with the personal project film People Will Talk (1951).

Such a strangely constructed script, with many WTF moments. Nicely produced, just really odd and yet bravely full of potentially contentious social issues. The main character--charmingly played by Cary Grant--was a gynocologist. Odd mixture of comedy and heavy drama. The film sank quietly.

A good example of the strangeness I wouldn't get to see without Husband's $2 movie bin fossicking habits. He is my own personal film festival director :-)
