Stupid Perth people

No surprises, but tonight's so called "Pulse of Perth" Ch7 news poll said 84% of respondents objected to gay couples adopting children. Politicians constant trot out the "children deserve a mother and a father" chestnut, ignoring the research that says the significant variable for success is two adults in a loving relationship.

I'd say a child has a much better chance with two gay men or two gay women who choose and fight to have a child than an awful lot of others. They should be allowed to get married too.

With all due respect to the masculinity of Husband, we got married with no intention of breeding, so what makes us any different from a gay couple? Should our marriage be retrospectively banned?

I must have missed this one, but it is understandable - we have our own version of right wing crazy happening over here, and ours involves guns, shoot to kill orders, instant arrest for entering the wrong part of town and other draconian police powers during APEC.

To be honest the timing sucks thanks to those two d*ckheads reinforcing the myth that gay people = paedophile recently. (Hmm, I wonder if this comment violates the current LJ policy)

I was so annoyed at the Worst for referring to them as "gay perverts". Would they have referred to the Birnies as "heterosexual perverts"?

Thought about this after posted other one. Does that mean that they feel that children should be removed from single parent families? Or that if your partner dies you should be forced to remarry to provide the 'mother and father' bit?

grrrr - i knew that when I heard about this on the radio, that this is what they'd say.

Given the media penchant for 'spin' i wonder what the results actually say - what questions were asked? I bet that would clarify it considerably :)
