Not my finest hour

I'm thinking of shaving my head. Not in a Brittney Spears kind of way, more an early mid-life crisis perfectly rational kind of way. It would seem to save a lot of trouble.

First of all, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] krjalk for putting up your hand for a bit of "um, are you sure?" action, and to [livejournal.com profile] fredmouse and [livejournal.com profile] cricketk for just being you. You can indeed get away with murder if "it's for charity".

I must now point out that this was indeed an April 1st exercise, from which I confirmed, learned or at least may hypothesise the following:

I suck at this
I am a bad liar, even in text. I can deliver a line with a straight face, no regrets and to occasional effect, but I'm pretty sure that uses a different part of my brain than the bit that manufactures and delivers porky pies. Very literal minded creature am I, although there appears to be a loophole for comic effect. Oh for an MRI or PET of one's own.

That would explain my aversion to marketing hype.

Most people figured it out and chose not to comment
So you should. It was a shocker.

It was a bit too close to the bone and in poor taste
I've gone through some rough times lately and perhaps people believed it a little too much to be sure I was joking and at the same time were deeply concerned about my state of mind. sorry

No-one else was I don't think you really read these things paying attention
What??? The horror!!!

Bad brain.

*grin* well, I think it was a good joke, and I don't mind being caught out - I know that I have a preference to believe people, and I'm happy to have it shown to be the case! If you had taken advantage of my credulity maliciously, I'd be much less happy though...

I think you'd be well within your rights to be cross if someone tries to take advantage of your good nature. Screw being "a sport," I'm very much against most forms of joke phone calls and practical jokes. If someone expresses dismay because they've just been told their mother is dead/they've lost their job/they're being deported/a plane has fallen from the sky/their fiance has broken off the relationship/etc I don't find that funny At All.

I find lots (and lots and lots) of things funny, but not that. Grrrr.

Sorry, got a bit ranty there thinking about commercial radio pranks. I've been unwell the last two days and am getting cabin fever.
