That would be the irresponsible shopping thing. I've done this before with books, but haven't really felt the same acquisitive urge with film and television. In the last two days, with varying degrees of actual intent, and in no particular order I have bought the following DVDs for my household (OK, mostly me):
* Gene Wilder/Richard Prior triple: See no Evil. Hear no Evil / Stir Crazy / Another You. I was preeeeetty sure Husband didn't already have these, but it's not a gamble I make often. He has *many* films, and acquires new ones by the bargain binful. Hesitated over Orchestra Wives (it's hell being a jazz widow) and a Garbo that he himself bought only yesterday. See?
* Groundhog Day (The 'Punxsutawney Phil' Edition. Apparently.)
* Top Gear: US Special. Rednecks and roadkill FTW.
* Die Hard 4.0 (Uncut Version - not seen in theatres. Warning: Explicit Language and Hardcore Violence). Alternatively the Australian classification warns of Moderate action violence and Moderate coarse language. Yippeekiaye.
* Doctor Who: Series 4 Volume 3: Silence in the Library - Forest of the Dead - Midnight. This was actually my starting point, and I would have bought more Donna and/or Tennant ones if they'd been there, particularly Blink / Family of Blood / The Next One *kicks self for not purchasing when first sighted*
* Mary O'Hara trilogy: My Friend Flicka / Thunderhead: Son of Flicka / Green Grass of Wyoming. Much more than a simple boy+horsefest; the books were densely written tomes full of philosophy, religion, and the harsh and lonely life of the pioneer wife and mother. And sheep. OK, it was cheap and I was grasping at anything at this point.
* Dexter: The Second Season. For those long lonely nights alone.
* James May's 20th Century. Theoretically a Christmas present...
Husband also recently gifted me with Iron Man and Transformers. Big Things Go Smash.
That's an entirely internally consistent playlist, surely?

Date: 2008-10-24 09:08 am (UTC)I'm old. I just can't get used to the idea of buying a Panasonic camera instead of, say, a Nikon. But it looks like the best high-end compact around (for photo quality and wide-angle lens).
